Η κριτική δημοσιεύτηκε στην εφημερίδα Gazzetino της Βενετίας από τον ιστορικό και κριτικό τέχνης Enzo di Martino - συγγραφέα του βιβλίου The History of the Venice Biennale

Special attention is paid to Palladio’s work of redesigning the unique and symbolic Venetian urban scene of St. Mark’s Basin, with his facade of San Giorgio Maggiore, the votive Church of the Redentore on the Island of Giudecca, and the Zitelle Complex, producing a breathtaking result of extraordinary innovative force.

The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Marciana National Library and the University of Venice (IUAV) and offers a compelling multimedia section open to the public.

Artists from François Pinault Collection.

A large exhibition on view in two buildings marks the opening of a new museum dedicated to contemporary art, at the Punta della Dogana, a historic complex built in the 17th century and which once served as customs house and recently redesigned by architect Tadao Ando.

Conceived as a single artistic journey, the show offers some 300 works from François Pinault’s art collection, presented as dialogues between artists of various generations, of various artistic forms of expression and sensibilities: from artists whose works are well represented in the collection – such contemporary art luminaries as Jeff Koons, Sigmar Polke, Rudolf Stingel, Cindy Sherman and Richard Prince – to new emerging talents and artists who have been unjustly ignored by the art world.

The exhibition - on view at the Diocesan museum and the nearby recently reclaimed and restored beautiful exhibition spaces at the old Church of San Filippo e Giacomo – opens with the early years of Torcello as Lagoon capital, marking the first sculptures around the lagoon. It continues with the extraordinary display of mosaics; precious objects related to liturgy (illuminated codices, ceremonial reliquaries and crosses); numerous icons which arrived here mainly after 1204, year of the 4th Crusade, adorned with stones, enamel and precious metals, or made of noble materials such as ivory, micro-mosaics and gold- and silver-threaded silks.
